ICT Carrier programme now closed

ICT Carrier was a DTI programme with the objective of improving the competitiveness of engineering and manufacturing based industries through the successful exploitation and adaptation of ICT from other sectors.

2 feasibility studies, 16 full collaborative projects and 11 scoping studies were carried out with most completed or nearing completion.

This site is designed to bring you the results of these projects and information on how these projects can benefit your organisation and/or industry. We have done this through providing an overview for each of the projects and also providing Case Studies where possible. We have retained the reporting process and template section of the original website for participants who still have outstanding commitments re reporting etc.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in ICT Carrier or has shown an interest in the ICT Carrier Programme. We hope that you find this site useful in providing further information about the work carried out within the projects and the respective potential benefits and how these may impact your company.

Meanwhile, a European wide project entitled etranet has been borne out of the success of ICT Carrier. This is a collaboration of 15 European governments with similar programmes who have a common goal of improving the competitiveness of manufacturing industries through the strategic exploitation of ICT. The 1st Joint Call was launched in June 2006 with plans for a second mid 2007. Further details can be found at www.etranet.net.
